Our Beliefs

Picture
About God:

We believe that God is the Creator of the universe and everything in it. He also created man and woman in His image. God is ever-present, all-knowing, and all-powerful. God works in our lives today as the Father God, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all have distinct characteristics, yet the three are equal to one another.
  • Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  • Genesis 1:27 - So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
  • Psalm 90:2 - Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
  • Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14 - May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

About Jesus Christ:

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, distinct yet equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless life and died on a cross as a covering for the sins of all people. Jesus demonstrated His power over sin and death by rising from the grave three days after his burial. Jesus ascended into heaven but will return soon to establish His eternal kingdom.
  • Isaiah 9:6 - For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3 - For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.
  • Acts 1:9-11 - After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
  • Daniel 2:44 - “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”

About the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father and the Son, yet equal to them. The Holy Spirit is active and present in believers to this day just as the Holy Spirit was long ago. It was the Holy Spirit that inspired those of old to write the Scriptures. As we seek to become more like Christ, the Holy Spirit will guide us and bring about the Christ-like characteristics in our lives. Being filled with the Spirit, we will grow in our relationship with God. It is our responsibility that we seek to live as God would want us to live.
  • Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • Ephesians 1:13 - And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.
  • 1 Corinthians 3:16 - Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
  • Galatians 5:25 - Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

About the Scriptures:

We believe that the Bible is God’s Holy Word. It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is God’s revelation to all people and it is without error. The Word of God is the essential and fundamental source of truth for us.
  • Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
  • Proverbs 30:5 - Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
  • John 1:1-2 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
  • 1 Peter 1:25 - “But the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.
  • Isaiah 40:8 - The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

About Humanity:

We believe we were created in the image of God and created for a relationship with God. In the beginning, man and woman had a perfect relationship with God. Then by man’s choice, sin entered the world; which caused a separation between God and man. Since the time sin separated us from God, we have been trying to fix this by our own good works. However, we can gain that closeness with God again through Jesus Christ, who has covered our sins through His death on a cross. It is by Jesus Christ we are saved.
  • Genesis 1:27 - So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:9 - God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • 1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:11 - Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

About Salvation:

We believe that salvation is God’s free gift to us that we must accept. Salvation is received only through Jesus Christ. We have all sinned and therefore fallen short of God’s glory. Our good works can’t bring about salvation to us. It is by fully trusting in Jesus Christ that we are saved. When we trust in Jesus Christ we begin life anew.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
  • John 14:6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
  • Isaiah 12:2 - Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

About Eternity:

We believe people were created to exist forever. However, we will exist forever with God or forever without God. If we have accepted Jesus Christ into our lives and believe Him to be our Lord and Savior then we will be with God eternally. However, if we have not believed in Jesus Christ or sought to follow the Lord then we will be eternally separated from God. The eternal separation from God is in Hell. Eternal life with God is in Heaven.
  • John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

About the Church:

We believe the Church consists of all who believe in Jesus Christ and trust Him as their Lord as Savior. The Church is also considered the body of Christ because all of us serve in different capacities and have certain gifts. Baptism is symbolic of our commitment to God and to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Baptism is also significant in showing that we are putting our old life behind us and committing ourselves to a new life with Jesus Christ. We share in the Lord’s Supper as a reminder of what Christ did for the believers. It is one of our chief responsibilities to make disciples of all nations, telling them about God and what He has done for everyone.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:27 - Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12 - Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
  • Acts 2:41-42 - Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
  • Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

About Outreach:

We believe that all believers are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are to go into the entire world and tell others about what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ. Throughout His life Jesus did outreach wherever He would go—always teaching the Gospel. It is our responsibility to show God’s love to others in whatever way we can, but to also share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
  • Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
  • Isaiah 6:8 - Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
  • Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • Mark 16:15 - He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
